Gigante's Mascots

BONITA THE SCARLET MACAW

Bonita
Bonita is a talkative Scarlet Macaw that lost the use of one of her wings in an apparent hunting incident. Since being rescued by Keith and Maria, she's been hanging out in paradise talking up a storm and keeping our guests entertained. Bonita can speak an impressive amount of words and phrases in English and Spanish. In fact, Bonita might know more spanish than you!

Scarlet Mcaws are brilliantly colored parrots you see in photos and movies, and we feel really lucky to have found one, especially one with such good manners. To learn more about these amazing animals, check out Wikipedeia's Scarlet Mcaw entry. Look for some great pics of Bonita in our photo gallery.

E.T. THE WHITE FACED CAPUCHIN MONKEY

ET
Out of all our animals, everyone's favorite seems to be ET, the mischievous White-Faced Capuchin Monkey who loves to play with our visitors. ET was being sold on the side of the road estranged from his mother and in need of some love. Luckily we came along and rescued the little guy from certain peril. We're pretty sure from his big smile that ET is happy to be in Gigante rather than a cage in the city somewhere.

Capuchin Monkeys are very intelligent monkeys that are common as pets, trained performers, and therapy animals. These are the organ grinder monkeys you would see in old films and circuses. Learn more about Capuchin Monkeys at Wikipedeia's Capuchin Monkey entry. We've got lots of pics of this little dude too, check him out the photo gallery.

CAMPAINITA (TINKERBELL)

ET
Tinkerbell (Campanita), a Bijon Frise is our family dog who gets to hang out in paradise with our two rescued critters. Everyonce is a while she gives E.T. a ride on her back which is always hilarious! Campanita has a good life here and we like to think she wouldn't have it any other way.
